Professional Staff

Young Abe had a deep passion that reached back as far as he could imagine: basketball. Running around on the playground with the roundball, even as early as 5th grade, defined much of his happiness. As fate (and a silly incident with his brother would have it), that happiness was temporarily fractured (along with his wrist). His fifth grade teacher, Mr. Risk (no relation to the Parker Brothers board game) took notice of his sad young student. He asked if Abe wouldn’t mind helping him in the classroom during recess. Abe agreed and quickly found a pleasant distraction and a new friend. Not only did Mr. Risk thank Abe for his help, at the end of the year Mr. Risk took Abe out to lunch and played basketball with him.

That’s just the kind of thing someone remembers and wants to pass along. So now Abe, proud graduate of UC Santa Barbara and soon to hold his master’s degree in education, is prepping to do just that. He wants to teach elementary — specifically 5th grade. He’s a giver.

Also to this day, he’s still a hoops junkie.

“I’m kind of obsessed,” he admits.

But it’s not all that’s on his mind. In 2008, while preparing for his own wedding, he went looking for another way to give. He responded to an ad for a job as a DJ and walked into the company he and his fiancé had already booked for their wedding. Our own Chris Mowery would be the one to hire him that day, and that’s where he found it…a new way to give…to you when it really counts.

“You were the first vendor I booked after nailing down the venue and date and my favorite! You were amazing from the very start and incredibly professional, helpful and kind. My husband’s mother suffered a stroke mid-planning and you were very compassionate and understanding about us taking a planning hiatus. When I decided to push through, you were right there to assist. We ended up doing DJ services, uplighting, a custom monogram and a photo booth. The booth was added on later but I was never pressured to do so.

About a month before the wedding, I started panicking because we hadn’t talked to you or met the DJ but Sue assured me she had picked him and we’d love him. She put me in contact with him and I immediately felt at ease with Abe. He complimented our song choices and I think understood exactly the vibe we were going for after just the one conversation. At the reception, he had the wedding party in the ladies room/waiting area before our introductions and gave us a pep talk to bring the energy and got us all pumped up. I think it really helped set the tone because then people knew it was going to be fun. He kept us on schedule without ever being intrusive but did aid us when we were getting stuck talking to those relatives that manipulate your time.

He also incorporated fun games for the centerpiece giveaway and to see how well Luke and I knew each other. Those were some of my favorite moments at my wedding, except being out of the dance floor with all my loved ones. I never made it into the photo booth but people were loving it- it was the open style with lots of funny props. Also, the lighting turned out great and really transformed the venue. I could go on and on and gush all day about how great your company is so therefore, I HIGHLY recommend!”

“I could not say enough positive things about your company especially Abe!

You were a pleasure to work with from the get go. You were extremely professional and helped answered all of my questions and concerns when it came to lighting, music, prices, packages, etc. When searching for a DJ for my wedding, I really wanted an Armenian DJ because of my husband’s ethnicity; we wanted someone bilingual or just a bit of knowledge with the Armenian culture. To my surprise, you had an Armenian DJ!

We got lucky with Abe. Abe is amazing! From our first conversation with Abe to the end of the wedding- he exceeded our expectations. He helped the night flow so smoothly we did not want it to stop! He listened to our song requests; he made the traditional events very lively and he even thru in a surprise game for my husband and I which turned out to be really fun (although I was extremely nervous at first). Two thing that stuck out to us about Abe was:

1. Abe was constantly checking in on my husband and I- making sure we were having a good time, even making sure we were well fed and had plenty of drinks on hand. He did more than we could have asked for from a DJ/MC.

2. Our special mother’s dance. My husband and I did a special mother’s/daughter/son dance with our moms. My mother is not in the best health and she is also very shy; for her to dance in front of a crowd was extremely nerve wrecking and took a bit of convincing. When it came time for the dance, I had to tell Abe we might not be able to do it because mom was not feeling well that night.

He came up with a game plan and it was perfectly executed. He had the guest crowd around the big dance floor for a more intimate space; He cut the dance into 1 minute (perfect for my mom) and then had all of the couples in the room join in for the latter half of the song. It all just flowed so well. I got to dance with my mom for the short period and our guest go to relive a little bit of high school slow dancing 😉 I will forever cherish this moment!

“The wedding was fantastic! During our wedding day we tried our best to convey our timeline to our day of coordinator, but ultimately it was Abe that held everything together for us.

Let me provide a few examples:
– Our final meeting, Abe helped us fine tune our timeline from his experiences (this really helped)
– Prior to the wedding party introduction, Abe met with our wedding party to help them coordinate (this was right before the intro), even when I interrupted him to tell him something, he paused mid sentence to talk to me without any frustration.
– He took all of our queues without practicing with us!
– He even had hand sanitizer to share with us!
– He stepped in to guide us during the cake cutting when our day of coordinator was no were to be found!
– He was more than just a DJ, he coordinated, he MC’d, he made sure we were okay, he engaged the crowd, he ROCKED the dance floor

“Abe was more than wonderful. We felt that both went above and beyond to create the atmosphere, ambiance, and vibe beyond our expectations.
